About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Bookkeeper to join our CPA firm. The Bookkeeper will provide high-quality bookkeeping and accounting services for a diverse portfolio of business clients while working closely with our CPAs and accounting team.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines. This position requires both technical accounting knowledge and strong client-service skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely bookkeeping records for multiple business clients.
  • Record and categorize transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, expenses, and general ledger activity.
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
  • Review client financial records for accuracy, completeness, and unusual or inconsistent activity.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and resolve accounting questions.
  • Identify and correct bookkeeping discrepancies and accounting errors.
  • Assist CPAs and senior accounting staff with tax preparation, financial statement preparation, and other client engagements.
  • Maintain organized electronic accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with payroll, sales tax, and other accounting-related tasks as needed.
  • Manage multiple client accounts while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client financial information.
  • Provide professional, responsive, and knowledgeable service to clients.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related accounting field required.
  • Current QuickBooks certification required.
  • 2+ years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, general ledger activity, and financial statements.
  • Demonstrated experience with bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with CPAs and other team members.
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a CPA firm or public accounting environment.
  • Experience supporting tax preparation and tax-related accounting services.
  • Experience with payroll and sales tax processes.
  • Familiarity with Xero, Wave, Zoho, Track 1099 or other accounting software.
  • Experience working with multiple small-business clients.
  • Additional QuickBooks or accounting certifications.
