Job description

Overview:

When you join Suburban Propane, you become a part of a fast-paced and dynamic company that has been serving its employees and customers for nearly 100 years. As a General Accountant responsibilities includes daily credit card and cash/check bank reconciliations, research discrepancies, record journal entries, prepare monthly Balance Sheet account analyses. Reports to the Supervisor of General Accounting.

Responsibilities:
  • Daily clearing of General Ledger for credit cards and bank account transactions
  • Prepare month-end bank account reconciliations
  • Prepare month-end Balance Sheet account analyses
  • Research discrepancies, investigate and oversee open bank items, identify and resolve issues
  • Prepare journal entries related to credit card fees and bank transactions
  • Support unclaimed property process
  • Support month-end process
  • Makes decisions within the level of expertise and consults with manager as appropriate
  • Makes timely decisions based on analysis that impact multiple areas and/or functions 
  • Evaluates decisions to ensure various perspectives and impacts have been properly addressed Is capable of working independently with limited supervision
  • Complete special projects (as required – upon request)

$53,287 - $65,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Qualifications:
  • Associate Accounting degree or above required
  • A minimum of 2 years accounting experience is perferred 
  • Comfortable with debits and credits
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook/Excel/Word/Powerpoint)
  • Must possess strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, set priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to research and resolve issues effectively; detailed oriented
  • Ability to manage a high volume of data
  • Experience working with an accounting system, preferably SAP
  • Requires good judgement and sound decision making
