Maintenance Worker

About Us: Sioux City Compressed Steel is a private, family-owned company that concentrates on customer service and employee satisfaction.

Maintenance Helper Position Overview: SCCS is currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to work at our state-of-the-art scrap recycling facility in Sioux City. Maintenance Workers are responsible for performing a wide range of duties. To assist with installs, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining facility equipment according to safety protocol. Will assist in supporting the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Perform highly diversified duties to assist in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting machines, conveyors, and heavy equipment.

Experience performing maintenance type duties for a concrete or rock crushing faciality is a plus.

Knowledge of CNC machines, hydraulics, motor control, general electrical.

Provide assistance in emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production. Will help perform scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment during machine service.

Perform duties including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of machines/cranes.

Diagnose minor problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.

Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.

Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

Comply with safety regulations, maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Work with Maintenance Lead to update PM checklist as needed.

Help to refurbish machinery as needed, such as repairing and replacing conveyor belts.

Any other maintenance tasks as needed.

Physical Requirements

This position is very active and requires standing for long periods of time, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
