Job description

Runner

Location: Puerto Rico

Reports to: Supervisor

Compensation Range: $12 – $18 hourly (depending on location, experience, skills, and qualifications)

About Ceres Caribe

Ceres Caribe was founded in Puerto Rico in 1998 after Hurricane Georges. It has since grown to be one of the largest employers on the island by providing long-term careers and meaningful work. Ceres Caribe is recognized for its rapid disaster recovery operations including debris removal, demolition, and blue roofs. We perform resiliency services such as vegetation management and utility line clearing for the Puerto Rican power grid. Ceres Caribe is also nationally recognized for creating natural parks and an aviary center on the island. The company continues expanding its efforts to secure and strengthen Puerto Rico’s power grid.

Driven by Purpose, Powered by People

At Ceres Caribe, you’re more than just an employee—you’re part of a mission. Whether in management, field operations, or behind the scenes, every team member plays a vital role in restoring hope, helping communities recover, and rebuilding stronger than before.

We value initiative, respect diversity, and give our people the freedom to lead. We offer competitive pay, travel opportunities, and a culture built on resilience and teamwork. If you show up with compassion, share the commitment, react with urgency, and deliver solutions, you’ll fit right in. We don’t just respond to challenges; we rise to them.

What We Are Looking For

The Runner is a critical support role within field operations, ensuring seamless movement of materials, tools, and documentation across active project sites in Puerto Rico. This role does not manage people but directly supports supervisors, foremen, and warehouse teams by keeping workflows uninterrupted. Success in the first 12 months looks like zero delays caused by missing materials or paperwork, 100% on-time vendor pickups, and consistent positive feedback from field leaders on responsiveness and reliability.

What You Will Do

  • Transport small tools, equipment, and materials from storage areas to active work zones to maintain uninterrupted workflow.
  • Deliver drawings, permits, and other essential paperwork between office teams and field personnel to support compliance and project continuity.
  • Pick up urgent supplies from local vendors and return them to the job site within agreed timelines.
  • Assist supervisors and foremen with mobile tasks such as retrieving forgotten items or delivering site-wide messages.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to verify inventory availability before transport.
  • Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, and mileage for expense tracking and auditing.
  • Secure all transported items properly to prevent damage or loss.
  • Follow site-specific traffic and pedestrian safety protocols while navigating active construction zones.
  • Report observed safety hazards or equipment needs immediately to the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Proven reliability in time-sensitive environments.
  • Basic knowledge of construction site safety practices and PPE requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous construction or manual labor experience.
  • Familiarity with common construction materials and tools.
  • Experience using GPS and route-planning apps for efficient travel.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.

What to Expect

This is a fast-paced, mobile role that keeps you on your feet—or behind the wheel—for most of the day. You will navigate construction sites, warehouses, vendor locations, and offices across Puerto Rico. Expect early start times (7:00 AM) and schedules that adjust based on project phases, weather, and urgent requests. Daily tasks involve constant walking on uneven terrain, driving a company vehicle in traffic, and lifting loads up to 50 lbs multiple times per shift.

You’ll interact frequently with foremen, warehouse staff, and vendors, requiring clear communication and a calm demeanor under pressure. Travel between sites is routine, and full PPE is required in active zones. The culture rewards urgency and dependability—missed pickups can halt multimillion-dollar timelines—so reliability is essential. In return, you’ll directly contribute to keeping crews productive and projects on schedule, making a meaningful impact on community resiliency.

Physical Requirements and Environment

Ceres provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities and to applicants with sincerely held religious beliefs, as required by law. The physical requirements listed below reflect the essential functions of this role.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness to wear PPE such as hard hat, protective eyewear, and steel-toed boots in required areas.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather and field conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, exposure to mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, vibration, and loud noise levels.
  • Commitment to following all safety standards and protocols.

Why Join Ceres Caribe?

At Ceres Caribe, you won’t just have a job—you’ll have a mission. Your work will directly impact the speed and strength of community recovery after disasters.

We offer:

  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
  • The chance to make a lasting difference for communities.

Ceres Caribe is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to age, race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, religion, disability, pregnancy, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.

E-Verify: We comply with Federal law by verifying employment eligibility.
