Job description

As a Sterile Technician you will be responsible for timely and accurate sterilization of dental instruments as well as assisting the dental staff with other duties as needed. In this role you will work with the dental staff and will report to Dental Coordinator.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Escorts patients to proper chair and prepares for examination and treatment as directed by the dentist
  • Assists Hygienist with Periodontal Charting
  • Sterilizes the instruments through autoclave
  • Prevents spread of disease and infection by maintaining a clean and sterile work environment in compliance with CDC infection control guidelines (HealthLinc policy) under direction of the infection control coordinator
  • Cleans, sterilized, and stores dental instruments and equipment, as directed
  • Maintains weekly and monthly all dental equipment and machinery
  • Tracks/logs sterilization
  • Assists dental staff in cleaning the operatory after patients are treated
  • Prepares various impression materials
  • Logs temperatures for cooling units daily
  • Maintains AED compliance
  • Helps maintain x-ray equipment
  • Arranges instruments, equipment, materials, and medication on chair side tray in advance of procedure for quick turnover from one patient to the next
  • Follows specific company and OSHA procedures when handling hazardous materials
  • Maintains and updates MSDS when needed
  • Maintains adequate supply levels of office/operative inventory
  • Receives deliveries of supplies
  • Prepares operatory and sterilization room before the patients arrive.
