We are a Christian faith-based, non-profit organization with a rich and evolving culture seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist Lead to assist with the Receiving Hope Center.

Hours: 40 hours per week; Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday

Location: Receiving Hope Center (RHC)

Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Specialist Lead is a pivotal member of the care team, providing direct support and oversight during assigned shifts. This role combines floor coverage, administrative responsibilities, and leadership to ensure the team operates effectively and provides the highest level of care to program participants. The Lead will support Behavioral Health Specialists and Behavioral Health Techs, manage breaks, and offer on-the-spot assistance as needed.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Participant Supervision

โ— Provide direct supervision to participants and guidance for behavioral health technicians.

โ— Develop a daily schedule, assign tasks, and ensure follow-through by the end of the shift.

โ— Follow all Receiving Center policies and procedures, as well as what is outlined in the

Participant Handbook (dress code, procedures for hygiene, medicine administration, etc.).

o Report and record participant progress with various interventions.

โ— Take lead responsibility for writing statements (or collecting staff statements) regarding any critical incidents that occur on assigned shifts.

โ— Provide leadership and expertise in at least one of the following areas:

o Bilingual

o Nutrition, meal planning, meal preparation โ€“ ServSafe Certified

o Fitness

o Medication logs, training, and adherence to policies and procedures

o Pro-social activities

o Academic Assistance

o Facilities and compliance

o Therapeutic yoga

Direct Support

โ— Provide hands-on support to youth during scheduled shifts, modeling trauma-informed care practices.

โ— Engage with youth to build trust, establish rapport, and promote emotional and physical safety.

โ— Address behavioral challenges and crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques and therapeutic approaches.

Leadership & Team Support:

โ— Act as the point of contact for Behavioral Health Specialists and Techs during the shift.

โ— Coordinate team coverage, ensure adequate break schedules, and address any immediate staffing needs.

โ— Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, reinforcing organizational policies and best practices.

โ— Train, instruct, and guide Specialists and Technicians in correct daily behavioral operational standards, policy and procedures.

Administrative Duties:

โ— Complete and review shift logs, incident reports, and participant documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.

โ— Communicate updates and concerns to supervisors and the broader care team during shift handovers.

โ— Participate in team meetings and contribute to program planning and improvement initiatives.

Crisis Management:

โ— Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing immediate care and leadership in collaboration with other team members.

โ— Serve as the primary contact for external support during critical incidents when necessary.

Maintaining Program Structure

โ— Lead skills-building groups and activities during non-school hours.

โ— Model behavior management and de-escalation skills to participants and staff on shift.

โ— Actively engage with participants in a group or one-on-one setting to ensure stability in the center and decrease the likelihood of critical incidents.

โ— Follow the schedule laid out in the program.

โ— Complete 15-minute bed checks for participants during sleeping hours.

โ— Complete grocery shopping, meal planning, and meal preparation for participants.

โ— Administer and document the medication use of participants.

โ— May administer random drug screens.

โ— Ensure adherence to program guidelines.

โ— Provide safety checks.

โ— Complete accurate and detailed documentation daily.

โ— Assist with security and security support as needed, including responsibilities such as monitoring security cameras and performing routine cleaning.

โ— Provide care to program participants without regard to race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religious or spiritual beliefs.

โ— Provide culturally competent care for participants who have a history of trauma.

Professional Qualifications:

โ— Bachelorโ€™s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education, or a related field.

โ— Minimum four years of related experience, such as mental or behavioral health experience with adolescents and families.

โ— At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.

โ— Strong administrative and organizational skills with computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word and Outlook) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs).

โ— Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and practices.

โ— Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention (or willingness to obtain).

Position Requirements:

โ— Employment is contingent upon completing pre-employment background checks, including criminal history, fingerprinting, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to ongoing compliance with these checks.

โ— Possession of a valid driverโ€™s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.

โ— Documentation of references (at least two professional and one personal) that attest to the personโ€™s capability of performing the position's duties and to the personโ€™s suitability of working with or around children and vulnerable populations.

โ— Current evidence of successful completion of a biennial training program in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and a triennial training program in first aid which have been offered by a certified or licensed healthcare professional; such programs shall be completed within the first 60 days of employment.

โ— Never have been shown by credible evidence (e.g., a court or jury, a department investigation, or other reliable evidence) to have abused, neglected, sexually exploited, or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct as evidenced by an oral or written statement to this effect obtained at the time of application and evidence of having made efforts to obtain and evaluate references from previous employers.

โ— Participation in all required trainings and competency in areas of training content.

โ— Documentation from a licensed physician or other licensed healthcare professional of a health screening examination within 30 days of hiring sufficient in scope to identify conditions that may place residents at risk of infection, injury, or improper care.

Working Conditions:

โ— Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds and work for long periods at a computer.

โ— Moderate local travel required related to program and training needs, as well as occasional travel beyond the metro Atlanta area.
