Job description

Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.

ย GLFHC is currently seeking a bilingual Medical Assistant Supervisor. The Medical Assistant Supervisor provides leadership to the medical assistant staff by planning and organizing all aspects of the day to day operations of the medical assistant team. Monitors and coordinates all medical assistant functions, including staff management and development and process improvements. Manages employee schedules, PTO time and facilitates coverage when absences occur. Demonstrates good clinical knowledge and judgment as well as ability to perform technical skills appropriate to the ages of patient served. The Supervisor promotes high quality patient care management, optimizes department resources, mentors and reviews staff performance, and enforces all Greater Lawrence Family Health Center policies, procedures and behavioral standards fairly and consistently.

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the medical assistant team. Oversees the development, utilization and evaluation processes to ensure a high quality of patient care, efficient operations, and the accurate and timely resolution for all problems and issues.
  • Resolves patient, clinician, and staff issues and concerns. Handles any patient concerns escalations that cannot be addressed by the staff.
  • Ensures patient care standards and adherence to all organizational policies and procedures. Coaches and mentors staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Scheduling staff and providing support to staff as a โ€œhands onโ€ working supervisor.
  • Recruits, trains, and develops staff. Initiates and communicates a variety of personnel actions including employment, termination, performance reviews, salary reviews, and disciplinary actions for all medical assistant staff.
  • Coaching and motivating employees to meet patient and clinical care goals.
  • Manages the daily schedule assignments for the medical assistant team.
  • Develops individualized plans for training and development for staff.

ย Qualifications:

  • Five to ten years of medical assistant experience.
  • One to three years of leadership experience.ย 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Medical Assistant certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Medical Interpreter certification
