Job description

Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Coker University is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to serve as an Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position will assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in the development and implementation of comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for assigned student-athletes. The successful candidate will possess strong coaching skills, a commitment to athlete safety and development, and the required professional certifications. This position offers a stipend and graduate tuition remission.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in the design and implementation of sport-specific strength, conditioning, speed, agility, and flexibility programs for assigned athletic teams.
  • Provide expert instruction and supervision to student-athletes during training sessions, ensuring proper technique and a safe training environment.
  • Conduct and analyze athlete assessments to monitor progress and adjust training programs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate training records and communicate effectively with coaches, athletic trainers, and other support staff regarding athlete development and any concerns.
  • Assist with the maintenance and organization of the strength and conditioning facilities and equipment.
  • Adhere to all university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, 1 kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Current certification as a CSCS through the NSCA or an SCCC through the CSCCa.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for athletes at the collegiate level (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sports nutrition.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using weight room technology and data management systems.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must hold a valid drivers license.
