What You Will Do
  • The Assistant Softball Coach reports directly to the Head Coach and is responsible for assisting in the organization and administration of the Softball program in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University, Ohio Valley Conference and NCAA.
  • The Assistant Softball Coach must have a commitment to developing a competitive NCAA Division I Softball program, while maintaining an emphasis on the academic success of the student-athlete. The Assistant Softball Coach will be expected to assist the Head Coach with the administration of the program in a manner that promotes the health, safety and welfare of the student-athlete.
  • Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. As a member of the athletics department staff it is expected that the Assistant Softball Coach will have a full understanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to the position. It is also expected that the Assistant Softball Coach will comply with all NCAA rules and if he/she becomes aware, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred he/she will immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Bachelors degree required, Master's degree preferred. Previous experience as a NCAA assistant coach, or previous experience as a collegiate head coach at the NCAA Division II or III, NAIA or NJCAA level; 1-2 years of collegiate coaching experience is preferred. Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills. Current knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. A commitment to student-athlete welfare and academic success.
