Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide vocational instruction and supervision in a forensic setting to assist residents with increasing knowledge and acquisition of vocational skills.
Supervises and instructs APD/DDDP work program residents in the development of vocational skills acquisition to refine or retrain individuals in personal vocational development. Ensuring safety, supervision, and security of residents through instructional direction, tracking and monitoring, and adherence to safety guidelines and protocol. Provides continuous monitoring of participants and escorts to related vocational activities. Provides emergency response and reporting of unusual or significant events or behaviors. Monitors appropriate use of tools, supplies, and equipment to maximize safety and security, inventorying items after every use. Maintains tool control for all work sites.
Provides classroom instruction related to increasing knowledge of vocational skills and safety measures. Provides information to assist individuals with disabilities in making informed choices regarding services, service providers, employment opportunities and employment outcomes.
Evaluates job performance and progress. Models and teaches behavior appropriate to the occupation/vocation, including safety, health, and social skills.
Maintains and conducts inventory of vocational equipment, tools, and supplies. Ensures supplies are ordered as needed and requests replacement or repair of damaged or outdated tools and equipment.
Check equipment routinely for preventive maintenance, safety, and sanitation and maintains a safe and organized environment.
Conducts time studies and other assessments to identify vocational interests, skills, and abilities of residents in the work program.
Plans and develops individualized vocational programs. Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Prepares necessary paperwork such as: individual progress reports, program data sheets, timesheets, skills assessments, and other reports as needed. Complete monthly inventory reports.
Attends all staff meetings and/or professional development courses. Maintains all required trainings.
Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or its equivalent and at least two (2) years of experience in housekeeping, groundskeeping, maintenance, or related work. College education or technical training may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or 720 classroom hours equals one year of experience).
- A valid driver's license.

Other job-related requirements for this position:
Certification in the agency-approved crisis prevention and intervention program is required. Incumbent is required to submit to pre-employment TB screening and on an annual on-going basis as prescribed by DDDP.
Maintain confidentiality of employee and/or resident information. This specific standard is mission-critical as the Agency is entrusted with information about employees and residents, which is protected by HIPAA and other federal and state laws. The Agency's ability to maintain and protect confidential information has a direct relationship with our ability to gain and sustain the public trust.
Based on the duties and essential functions of this position, incumbents will be required to spend a minimum of 75% of work time performing duties which involves direct contact with residents in a secure forensic facility. This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting.
