About the Practice

The Medical Assistant (MA) Scheduler at Corewell Health's Endoscopy site plays a critical role in supporting the Digestive Health team by coordinating and scheduling endoscopic procedures for physicians. This position serves as a primary point of contact for patients, referring providers, and internal staff, ensuring timely, accurate, and patient-centered scheduling of procedures.
The MA Scheduler is responsible for managing a high volume of incoming and outgoing telephone calls to schedule procedures such as colonoscopies, EGDs, and other endoscopic services. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate scheduling protocols, provider availability, and pre-procedure requirements.
Key responsibilities include verifying patient information, coordinating procedure dates and locations, providing clear preparation instructions, and ensuring all necessary clinical documentation and authorizations are obtained prior to scheduling. The MA Scheduler works closely with physicians, nursing staff, and administrative teams to optimize workflow efficiency, maintain scheduling accuracy, and support safe, high-quality patient care.
This role is essential in ensuring a seamless patient experience while supporting operational efficiency and procedural volume within the endoscopy unit.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required
  • 1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred

  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days

  • One of the following Required within 120 Days

    • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

    • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

    • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
