Job description

The Accreditation Risk Coordinator RN plays a vital role in facilitating peer review activities across nursing and clinical departments. This position oversees the timely review, investigation, action planning, and closure of risk management events, ensuring clinical expertise and evidence-based practices are upheld. The coordinator is authorized to conduct reviews and investigations on behalf of risk and compliance management programs, maintaining strict confidentiality throughout.
Essential Functions

  • Manage peer review processes within nursing and clinical departments.
  • Conduct initial risk reviews, investigations, and event closures.
  • Provide just-in-time education to staff when variances are identified.
  • Perform tracers and rounding to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in patient and unit rounds to assess risk proactively.
  • Lead proactive risk assessments and comprehensive analyses, including root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Apply High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles in daily activities.
  • Prepare meeting materials such as agendas, packets, and minutes.
  • Abstract data from medical records for risk, quality measures, and other quality management projects.
  • Enter data accurately into relevant databases.
  • Organize and facilitate multidisciplinary workgroups to improve quality outcomes.
  • Verify appropriate documentation and communicate with medical and hospital staff as needed.
  • Maintain a professional and confident presence with all customers served.
  • Assist with certification and accreditation processes.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Support accreditation and regulatory survey activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
