HORIZONTAL DIRECTIONAL DRILL OPERATOR
We are looking to hire a Horizontal Directional Drill Operator in Henderson, CO. As a Driller, you will be responsible for operating the drilling equipment used in horizontal directional drilling projects. You will operate various equipment such as excavators, trenchers, or directional bore machines. HDD Operators ensure that drilling operations are conducted safely, accurately, and in compliance with project specifications and environmental regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Operation of heavy equipment including excavators, trenchers, directional bore machines, track hoes, backhoes, front end loaders and skidsteers to excavate or move dirt, rock and other materials
  • Prepare and maintain equipment for safe daily operations
  • Able to set and pull shield shoring in accordance to OSHA safe practices
  • Safely operate the HDD rig and associated drilling equipment according to project specifications, design plans, and established procedures
  • Control the drilling process to achieve the desired bore path, depth, and alignment, adjusting drilling parameters as needed
  • Collaborate with the HDD locator to ensure alignment with the planned route and enforce safety protocols for a secure working environment
  • Safely operate assigned equipment, conduct pre-trip inspections, and load materials for transport
  • Assist in securing the work site, equipment, and materials, preparing documents and reports related to work, equipment, and safety
  • Load materials or equipment for transport from the show-up yard to the job site and secure them appropriately
  • Demonstrate advanced directional drill experience and possess the ability to travel as needed
  • Oversee the handling and installation of drilling tools, ensuring efficient material use and compliance with environmental regulations
  • Implement measures to control mud and fluid discharges
  • Participate in daily job hazard analyses, utilizing directional drills to place pipes
  • Perform routine maintenance on the HDD rig, conduct inspections, and make necessary repairs to prevent downtime
  • Identify and address challenges during drilling, collaborating with the HDD locator and team members for solutions
  • Keep accurate records of drilling activities, equipment maintenance, and deviations
  • Prepare documents, reports, or job aids related to work, equipment, and safety as assigned
  • Maintain clear communication with project managers, providing updates on progress, challenges, and deviations
  • Interact with stakeholders, providing updates and addressing concerns
  • Stay informed about HDD technology advancements through training sessions
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Travel as needed

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Driver license and excellent driving record
  • Excellent computer skills
  • 1+ years' experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling
  • Physical activity required for role
    • Work outside in a range of weather conditions, including hot and cold weather
    • Standing and walking for extended periods on uneven surfaces
    • Repeatedly kneeling, climbing, crouching, crawling, reaching, working overhead
    • Repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds overhead
    • Move about, in, and around construction vehicles
    • Good vision (either normal or corrected) and good balance
    • Manual dexterity for the use of hand and power tools
  • Pass Pre-Employment drug screen and background check
