Position Summary 

Zachry Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful execution of heavy highway, road, and bridge construction projects. The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of project delivery including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, contract compliance, safety, quality, project closeout, and client satisfaction. This role provides leadership to field supervision and project engineering teams, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to the company's high standards of excellence. 


What You'll Do 

  • Manage the overall planning, execution, and completion of heavy highway, road, and bridge construction projects or major segments of such projects. 
  • Oversee field construction activities, engineering, and project support operations to ensure project objectives are achieved. 
  • Lead contract execution to meet project schedule, budget, and quality goals. 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and vendors. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the owner, administering the contract and protecting company interests regarding changes and claims. 
  • Organize and direct workforce and field supervision to achieve project milestones and productivity targets. 
  • Apply negotiation and contract management skills to represent the company effectively with owners and external agencies. 
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with material vendors and subcontractors to support successful project delivery. 
  • Monitor project performance and provide accurate progress reports to senior management. 
  • Identify and resolve project risks and challenges while maintaining a proactive approach to problem-solving. 
  • Mentor and develop project personnel to build high-performing teams and support professional growth. 
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and accountability across all project activities. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

What We're Looking For 

  • Minimum of 10 years of current or recent heavy highway, road, and bridge construction management experience. 
  • Proven success managing medium to large projects ($50M+). 
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred. 
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred. 
  • Knowledge of the local construction environment and industry practices. 
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and team-building skills. 
  • A well-rounded knowledge base across multiple construction disciplines. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Valid driver's license required; must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company vehicle to job sites and other locations as needed. 
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and walk uneven terrain to access job sites. 
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and driven to deliver successful results.
