Job description

Overview
Position: Recreation Assistant (RA)
Location/Dept.: Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Philadelphia PA
Availability: Immediate
Schedule: Part Time (up to 19 hours weekly) - varying hours based on scheduled events, evenings and weekends required
Reporting Relationship: Fitness & Recreation Manager
Salary: $18.00 Grade:75 Non Exempt
Responsibilities
The Recreation Assistant will help develop and implement traditional and non-traditional recreational activities, giving direct supervision to same as assigned in the gymnasium, and throughout the RJCCC campus. The RA will also assist with the coordination of recreational activities for the afterschool program, day camp, Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC), and the Sunoco Foundation Learning Center (SLFC).
Qualifications
Prior work experience or successfully completed internship in field of study preferred. Detail oriented. Ability to work with a diverse population, including various age ranges. Must be safety conscious. Must possess ability to provide excellent customer service. Must possess excellent program development skills. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English. Must be able to handle difficult situations/confrontations in a professional manner.
As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 prior to employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
