Our Industrial Electric Division installs and maintains complex electrical systems in the power utility space. We work on a variety of substation projects and support much of the area's electrical infrastructure. We also work on other commercial projects throughout western New York.
Location: Rochester, NY
Position Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting an assigned portfolio of electrical projects.This includes quoting and planning projects, procuring the required material, scheduling employees, managing the delivery of work to our quality and safety standards, documenting changes and processing orders, and managing key customer relationships.
Specific responsibilities of the Assistant Project Manager will include but not be limited to:
  • Perform all work associated with the bidding process
    • Attend pre-bid meetings, which can include site visits or walk-through meetings
    • Coordinate with vendors for pricing
    • Complete material takeoffs
    • Process and track RFI's
    • Prepare and submit project estimates and bids
  • Work with customers to plan and schedule work, communicate progress and address any required changes
  • Line up required material, machinery and tools to perform work
  • Schedule the work required to complete the project scope
  • Create and/or manage site specific safety plans as required in conjunction with corporate Safety department
  • Manage the Industrial Electric division's two apprenticeship and employee development programs
  • Produce and distribute correspondences, memos, letters, and forms
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
  • Monitor and report on progress of work; help troubleshoot challenges to completion
  • Accomplish other duties and tasks as assigned or requested

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Electrical construction knowledge required
  • 2 to 5 years of project management experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate via phone and email
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent collaboration skills; able to work effectively across the organization
  • Experience with Microsoft Project. SharePoint, Bid to Win, and Bluebeam a plus
  • Understanding of construction documentation (contracts, drawings, specifications) required.

Compensation:
