Summary of Position:
 
The Assistant Project Manager I reports to a Project Manager, Level I, II, III or to a Senior Project Manager. Assistant Project Managers may perform a broad range of supportive and necessary technical tasks of varying degrees of difficulty in a variety of assignments within the Construction Management Dept. while receiving training in all phases of assigned construction projects related to the mission.
    1.       Responsibilities:
  • Functions as a member of a project team, and under direct supervision will perform elementary assignments, while receiving training including the use of personal computers and various software programs.
  • The Assistant Project Manager Level I assists in making decisions and taking actions in a timely manner to expedite the completion of the construction process.
  • The Assistant Project Manager Level I assists in ensuring the quality and high standards of contract performance and compliance in both design and construction.
  • The Assistant Project Manager Level I assists in correcting mistakes and errors before they can be extensively incorporated into the project.
  •                  
  •                  Duties:
  • Under direct supervision of a Project Manager, responsible for applying project management related principles while learning practices as employed.
  • Assist in preparing activity schedules and reviewing consultant proposals which includes: scope of work, staffing charts, labor cost charts and cost estimates while checking for inconsistencies and errors.
  • Maintain a management information system to provide data for the planning and control of project development.
  • Assist in the process of investigation and resolution of design and construction issues.
  • Review design documents, change orders, punch lists, payment requisitions and contracts.
  • Gather information to be used in job status reports.
  • Visit various job sites as required in the performance of above duties.
  • Perform other related tasks. 
                             ​​​​Minimum Requirements:
  • Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services or related course work.
  • MUST HAVE A driver’s license valid in New York State.
