Job description

The Role
As an Assistant Project Manager at AMS, you're building the multi-talented foundation our commercial projects run on. You'll work closely with the Project Manager to support the profitability and quality execution of our commercial projects throughout the Chicagoland area, bringing together design and engineering, estimating, project management, and entrepreneurial business skills.
You'll assist the Project Manager and field supervision to ensure installation occurs correctly, taking initiative to minimize system rework, and applying your developing knowledge of mechanical systems to help troubleshoot installations as necessary. You'll work with the engineering group on Design-Build projects, managing documentation to prevent errors, and use the project documentation plan to track submittals, RFIs, current project specifications, and plans, maintaining logs for both field use, including iPad management, and office use. As an employee-owned company, the projects you help build are projects you share in, with Quality, Integrity, Reliability built into every job.
What You'll Own
  • Assist the Project Manager and field supervision to ensure installation occurs correctly, taking initiative to minimize system rework.
  • Utilize training and knowledge garnered to date to further develop your understanding of mechanical systems, applying that knowledge to assist field supervision and troubleshoot installations as necessary.
  • Work closely with the engineering group on the development of Design-Build projects, managing documentation to prevent errors associated with this type of work.
  • Utilize the project documentation plan to manage and track submittals, RFIs, current project specifications, and current project plans.
  • Maintain a log of RFIs, submittals, drawings, and issues for both field use, including iPad management, and office use.
  • Review and process returned documentation for scope compliance and distribute it to relevant project stakeholders.

What You Bring
Required
  • College degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC on the construction side, including estimating, project management, and business development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
