Job Title: Assistant Project Manager – Electrical Construction

Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager supports the successful delivery of electrical construction projects from kickoff through closeout. In this role, you coordinate and administer project activities, help manage schedules and budgets, and serve as a key link between office and field teams. You ensure project milestones are tracked, documentation is accurate and up to date, and communication flows smoothly among project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the coordination and administration of electrical construction projects from project kickoff through closeout.
  • Support field operations by coordinating project activities, tracking milestones, and ensuring timely communication between office and onsite teams.
  • Monitor project progress and help identify potential schedule, cost, or quality concerns, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, including activity sequencing, resource planning, and schedule updates.
  • Track project deadlines and support efforts to meet contractual obligations and customer commitments.
  • Coordinate schedule updates and assist with implementing changes resulting from site conditions, scope modifications, or client-directed changes.
  • Support project budgeting activities, including cost tracking, forecasting, invoice review, and job cost reporting.
  • Assist with contract administration, change order management, and the preparation and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed logs for RFIs, submittals, change orders, material tracking, and other project records.
  • Collaborate with estimating teams on pricing reviews, project handoffs, and bid support activities.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents to understand project requirements and communicate them clearly to project stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
  • Utilize Procore and other project management software to manage documentation, reporting, and workflow processes.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients regarding project updates, material deliveries, and project requirements.
  • Ensure project files, logs, and reporting are maintained accurately and completed in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, safety-conscious project environment and support continuous improvement of project management practices.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience supporting construction projects, preferably within electrical construction.
  • Knowledge of commercial, industrial, or utility electrical construction methods and systems.
  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management or project management software.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling software and basic scheduling principles.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, project documentation, and change management processes.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage detailed project documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Solid problem-solving abilities and the capacity to identify and help resolve schedule, cost, or quality issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Exposure to estimating platforms such as Accubid, ConEst, or similar construction estimating software preferred.
  • Experience with construction project management tools and workflows, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and material tracking logs.
  • Electrical construction project management, construction management, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and change order management in a construction setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
