Assistant Project Manager - GC Division

Our portfolio includes some of California's largest and most well-known private residential estates. We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our General Contracting team and support high-end custom residential remodeling projects with budgets of $5 to $15 million. These projects require strong organization, construction knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate complex schedules, detailed architectural plans, high-end finishes, and large project teams.

This is a great opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager who wants to grow within a collaborative, high-accountability environment. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Administrators, Project Accountants, subcontractors, design partners, and clients to help deliver projects with exceptional quality, strong communication, and an outstanding client experience.

  • Support the Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle, from construction through closeout.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Administrator, Project Accountant, subcontractors, and design partners to keep project activities organized and moving forward.
  • Manage project documentation, including plans, specifications, contracts, purchase orders, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, logs, and related records.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, action-item lists, and project updates, and follow through on assigned commitments.
  • Support subcontractor bidding, scope of reviews, proposal comparisons, buyout, change orders, and contract documentation.
  • Assist with estimating efforts, including quantity takeoffs, scope development, and review of subcontractor proposals.
  • Track project costs, commitments, change orders, procurement items, and documentation to support accurate forecasting and budget control.
  • Maintain clear, timely communication with project stakeholders and promptly elevate risks, decisions, and unresolved issues to the Project Manager.
  • Support schedule management by tracking milestones, maintaining look-ahead schedules, coordinating long-lead items and deliveries, and escalating potential delays.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, including 2+ years in project coordination, estimating, or assistant project management.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting custom residential or high-end commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and mark up construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Working knowledge of project documentation, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, cost tracking, and change management.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with project management software, including Procore, Bluebeam, and MS Project, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout the Bay Area as needed and work from the Novato office when not on a job site.
