Job Overview: Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager. Depending on the size and scope of the project, an Assistant Project Manager may perform nearly all functions of a Project Manager. On other projects they may be expected to perform the duties of a Project Engineer in an enhanced capacity. The intent of this role is to prepare the individual to move into the Project Manager position.Responsibilities and Expectations:Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural steel install and/or fabricationBackground in construction, preferably structural steel, with ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, bid documents, and contractsAssist with defining scope of work and deliverables for assigned projectsParticipate in project estimate reviews, provide inputAssist with communicating appropriate budget and hours information to superintendent to hold them accountable for what is in their controlAttend and/or facilitate job specific meetingsBecome the expert on scope of work for all assigned projects. Understand the contract drawings, shop drawings, and help manage changes in design.Work with the Project Manager and shop to ensure material arrives on site to support the project scheduleDepending on project, may be responsible for submitting and/or managing RFIsDepending on project, may be responsible for submittals, either actively reviewing and submitting them to the client, or managing the processWhen necessary, solicit pricing from vendors and/or subcontractors, assess, select, and manage their contract, scope, budget, and scheduleExcellent oral and written communication Use computer programs such as Navisworks, Trimble, Bluebeam, Vista, Microsoft Office Products, Tekla, etc.Be a team player and support the project team; we wear many hats and do whatever is needed to ensure the project success!Physical Demands:An Assistant Project Manager may be required to go on occasional field walks, as the project requires.
