Assistant Project Manager โ€“ Support Large-Scale Commercial, Industrial, and Federal Builds

Job Overview:

  • Company: CNA Contractor.
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $60,000 - $85,000 per year (based on experience) plus Performance Bonus.
  • Location: Richmond, VA
  • Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday.
  • Project Scope: General Construction (Commercial, Industrial, Government or Federal)
  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.

The Opportunity: You will act as the vital link between clients, architects, and subcontractors, ensuring complex projects proceed smoothly from bid to completion. This role offers a unique mentorship path directly under the President, designed to develop you into a master builder and future Project Manager. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse commercial and federal projects while mastering the "CNA Way" of construction excellence.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Coordinate real-time field resolutions by collaborating with Superintendents and architects to process RFIs.
  • Manage the submittal lifecycle from pre-bid review to material delivery to ensure strict adherence to project specifications.
  • Direct essential construction meetings and distribute comprehensive minutes to maintain team alignment and project transparency.
  • Execute detailed task tracking and morning priority reviews to focus the team on the critical path and project milestones.
  • Evaluate subcontractor pricing and proposals for change events to maintain budget integrity and project profitability.
  • Facilitate seamless field operations by providing subcontractors with necessary drawings, BIM models, and 6-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Support the estimating team by assembling bid packages and identifying key inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for owners.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven eagerness to learn and a strong desire to master the technical and business aspects of construction.
  • Humble, servant-hearted approach to leadership with a focus on team-oriented success.
  • Ability to combine technical engineering knowledge with business management skills.
  • Willingness to be coachable and adapt to established company standards and workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills with an obsession for closing out tasks and maintaining accurate documentation.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience or familiarity with Procore, BIM models, CAD, Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Previous exposure to commercial, industrial, or government construction environments.
  • Technical training or an educational background in Engineering or Construction Management.
