An established heavy civil contractor is looking to add a motivated Project Engineer to its growing operations team. Recognized for delivering high-quality transportation, utility, and site development projects, this organization has built a reputation for excellence throughout Ohio and the Midwest.

Position Overview

The Project Engineer will play an integral role in supporting field operations and project management from preconstruction through project completion. Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents, this individual will help coordinate schedules, manage project documentation, communicate with project stakeholders, and assist with day-to-day construction operations.

This position is an excellent opportunity for an early-career construction professional looking to gain hands-on experience on large, complex civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with planning, scheduling, and coordinating active construction projects
  • Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to help maintain project schedules
  • Conduct regular visits to active job sites to monitor progress and provide project support
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including production reports, quantity tracking, meeting minutes, and field reports
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, pricing requests, and estimating activities
  • Review supplier and subcontractor proposals for completeness and competitiveness
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and design teams
  • Help ensure projects remain organized, efficient, and compliant with company standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred
  • Equivalent construction industry experience (minimum two years) will also be considered
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Desire to build a long-term career within heavy civil construction
