Job description

The Senior Project Engineer will support the Government Program Manager with program execution and engineering management across multiple mission areas. They will provide technical support for the development and/or procurement of technology-based systems, subsystems, and projects, assisting in engineering analysis and test support to include ground and flight tests and other on-site evaluations. They will work both independently and as part of a team of engineers to accomplish tasks from early project stages to project completion, communicating and coordinating with both internal and external organizations, collaborating with engineers and technicians assigned to specific engineering projects, under the direction of the Government Program Manager. This position will consist of 100% in-person support at Wright-Patterson AFB and will include travel of approximately 25%.
Requirements:
  • Must have a Masters in ABET accredited Engineering program (Aero, E&E, Mechanical, and/or Aeronautical) or advanced degree in physical science or mathematics
  • Preferred: PhD in Engineering (Aero, E&E, Mechanical, and/or Aeronautical) or Physics or Mathematics
  • Must have minimum 3-5 years of experience with lab-based research, test planning & execution, analysis, and report & briefing generation
  • Preferred: Experience with military operations and/or governmental flight/ground test planning, execution, analysis, and report & briefing generation
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Preferred: Experience with governmental operations and communication between operational leadership and engineers
  • Even better if the candidate has the following:
  • Experience in program or project management, execution cost, schedule, and performance activities, Specific experience with governmental program/project management

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assists the government customers in tracking project expenditures and providing data for programmatic management decisions
  2. Supports the government customers in monitoring contractor performance and identifying potential risks to cost, schedule, and quality
  3. Collaborate with principal engineers to identify time-phased requirements to meet project needs, providing input to resource planning
  4. Supports the government principal engineers, project engineers, systems engineers, and technical engineers to develop technical solutions and assist with project resolution as needed, offering recommendations to the Government Program Manager
  5. Assists the Government Program Managers in coordinating and tracking tasks within large projects, providing technical expertise to support effective execution
  6. Assists in drafting final project reports, documents, and briefings, including Technology Master Plans, roadmaps, project schedules, flight and ground test plans, test reports, etc.
  7. Support ground and/or flight test project teams. Assist in planning, conducting, analyzing, and reporting as part of test projects and help to ensure all resources are identified and available to meet test project needs
  8. Participates in Test Plan Working Group (TPWG) meetings to support ground and/or flight test projects requiring senior-level technical input, under the direction of government customer

  • None, though candidate is expected to be able to acquire and maintain TOP SECRET clearance. (but will need to start process to obtain Secret and Top Secret upon hire)
