Senior Geotechnical Engineer (PE)


Sequence has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to join a respected and growing engineering consulting organization serving Northern California.


This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-to-senior level geotechnical professional seeking greater project responsibility, technical challenge, and long-term career growth within a stable and collaborative environment.


Based in the San Francisco Bay Area (east Bay), this position will play a key role in the planning, execution, and delivery of geotechnical engineering projects supporting commercial, industrial, infrastructure, transportation, public works, and development initiatives throughout Northern California.


The successful candidate will serve as a technical resource and project leader, overseeing subsurface investigations, geotechnical analyses, foundation recommendations, earthwork evaluations, slope stability assessments, seismic studies, and construction support services. This individual will work closely with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams while contributing to the continued growth and success of the practice.

Key Responsibilities


  • Manage and execute geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through completion
  • Plan and oversee subsurface exploration programs including drilling, sampling, and field investigations
  • Perform geotechnical analyses related to foundations, retaining structures, earthwork, settlement, seismic design, liquefaction, and slope stability
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, specifications, and engineering calculations
  • Coordinate project activities with clients, contractors, agencies, and internal engineering teams
  • Support construction observation and field services as needed
  • Assist with project budgeting, scheduling, and resource management
  • Help mentor junior engineers and technical staff
  • Participate in client meetings and help maintain strong long-term relationships


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Approximately 3 to 6+ years of geotechnical/civil engineering experience
  • Strong technical background in subsurface investigations, foundation engineering, earthwork, and seismic evaluations
  • Experience preparing geotechnical reports and engineering recommendations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior project management experience preferred
  • California project experience strongly preferred
