Candidates MUST be located within commuting distance of our Westampton, NJ location. 

The Project Engineer position is responsible for overseeing various field activities including quality control, health and safety, and client relationships. In addition, Project Engineer also supports proposal development and cost estimating.  Prepares project submittals, schedules and vendor/subcontractor requisitions. This position is an office and field position depending on the current workload and would require some periodic travel.  The position provides a path to project management and executing proposals and jobs independently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Develop equipment schedules and material takeoffs; prepare specifications and requests for bids for subcontractors and material vendors. Collaborate with project planning and field mobilization efforts. Compare bids and recommend the selection of subcontractors and material vendors.
  • Perform site visits on new project opportunities to determine site conditions including available site power utility/facility constraints construction permits; evaluate potential site support contractors and assist with preparation of cost estimates.
  • Conduct material and equipment inspection testing, complete quality control documentation in our shop and general preparation for deployment of equipment and materials to project sites.
  • Guide field teams to ensure project specifications and engineering requirements are being adhered to. Troubleshoot any engineering or logistical problems with the Project Manager and Site Manager.
  • Perform the function of field engineer (as required) including hands on field work and/or field engineering quality control inspection and documentation supervision of field staff and subcontractors review of daily work production reports project schedule progress and budget compliance. Communicate progress or issues with project manager or construction manager.
  • Assist with field construction and/or site operation efforts
  • Prepare detailed drawings and supervise fabrication/construction as needed
  • Verify that daily production reports are maintained
  • Perform field QA/QC to ensure construction work is performed in accordance with design drawings specifications and SOPs
  • Collaborate with project manager and communicate with clients regarding performance progress or issues.
  • Communicate and coordinate work quality or safety concerns to the Project Manager and leadership team as necessary to ensure proper and safe completion of the project.
  • Serve as technical consultant for construction and operations field staff with troubleshooting (remotely or on-site, as applicable).
  • Drive innovation to streamline the cost and performance of our projects, capture information and make overall improvements as learning takes place.
  • Design and develop new methods/equipment to meet project specifications.
  • Travel as necessary to perform position description duties. Expect up to ~10% travel for periods of several days to 2 weeks. Occasionally longer trips may be necessary depending on project tasks and workload.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • 0 - 3 years engineering experience in environmental remediation or related construction industry
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, environmental science or related discipline preferred, or a combination of a 4-year degree in engineering or related discipline combined with professional experience
  • Professional Engineer or EIT with ability to obtain PE preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized while doing so
  • Self-starter with outgoing personality traits; Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and MS Project (or similar)
  • CADD Experience preferred
  • Work independently based on general instructions, directions or objectives received from supervisor or project manager(s)
  • Complete assigned tasks based on instructions, directions or objectives received with varying degrees of supervision from supervisor or project manager
  • 40 Hr. OSHA Hazwoper training and current 8 hr. refresher (Company will provide, if not current)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
