Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Construction Manager to join our team in Toledo, OR . The Construction Manager will be involved with both leading and supporting the construction process for projects using Georgia-Pacific capital project work processes. While filling the role of Construction Manager, this individual will also be involved for the complete life cycle of capital and major maintenance projects including definition, detailed design, construction, start-up and close out. What You Will Do
  • Promote safety through proactive involvement in safety training, adherence to safety policies, and inclusion of company safety initiatives in project execution
  • Review and understand scope of work and all aspects of construction for each specific project
  • Be an active participant in constructability reviews of upcoming projects
  • Work with project engineering leader, project managers, technical COE's, procurement and mill teams to determine the appropriate construction strategy for projects
  • Work with contractors to effectively coordinate construction activities for projects
  • Work with project engineering leader, project managers and contractors to validate execution plans and schedules for projects
  • Participate in reviews of cost and schedules for projects and actively challenge when appropriate
  • Review projects and detect gaps in the construction process and work with project teams/contractors to develop means to mitigate gaps
  • Assist project teams with checkout and start-up of their respective projects
  • Provide construction updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress - Communicate with project owners to ensure alignment to project goals

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management or Engineering OR Four (4) or more years of construction management experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Experience validating existing estimates and scheduling projects
  • Experience managing construction projects from start to finish
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word (i.e. creating documents), Excel (i.e. creating/updating spreadsheets), and Outlook (i.e. scheduling meeting invites & emailing)
  • Must work extended work schedules during critical execution periods, mill outages and while being on weekend/holiday call

What Will Put You Ahead
  • 10+ years of construction management experience in manufacturing
  • Experience using MS Project and/or Primavera
  • Experience with constructability reviews for various project types
