Position Summary

GeoSurfaces is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

This role will support day-to-day accounting operations and collaborate with Accounting Managers, Controllers, and internal business partners across multiple divisions. The Senior Accountant will have hands-on responsibility for month-end close, payroll, inventory, sales tax, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general-ledger activities.

This position is well suited for an accounting professional who values accuracy, collaboration, accountability, and the opportunity to contribute across a broad range of accounting functions within a stable and growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage hands-on, full-cycle accounting activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory, and sales tax.

  • Support month-end and year-end close procedures.

  • Prepare general-ledger and account reconciliations.

  • Reconcile general-ledger accounts to corresponding subledgers.

  • Prepare and post journal entries.

  • Review financial information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established accounting practices and internal controls.

  • Assist with budget and forecast reviews.

  • Provide financial information and insight to support business decision-making.

  • Collaborate with Accounting leadership and intercompany partners to support effective operations across divisions.

  • Process purchase orders and provide accounting support to Operations.

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.

  • Support financial-reporting requirements and special accounting projects.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, efficiency, and internal controls.

  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.

  • Partner with internal teams to investigate and resolve accounting questions and discrepancies.

  • Support the Accounting department with additional responsibilities as business needs arise.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • Three or more years of progressive, hands-on, full-cycle accounting experience.

  • Previous experience in public accounting or a mid-sized corporate accounting environment strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and standard accounting practices.

  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial documentation.

  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Experience with payroll, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or sales-tax accounting preferred.

Technical Skills and Core Competencies
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience working with an enterprise resource planning system preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
