Title: Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Reports To: Marketing & Communications Specialist/VP Corporate Services & Business Development

Location: Saskatoon, SK

Position Type: 16 Month Full-Time Term (with possibility of becoming permanent)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Lead, with operational guidance and interim supervision provided by the Vice President, Corporate Services and Business Development as required, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports FNCIAS' established marketing and communications program through content creation, digital communications, event coordination, and day-to-day implementation of communications initiatives that advance the organization's mission, vision, and values.


Position Description

  • Coordinate the implementation of FNCIAS' comprehensive marketing and communications strategic work plan.
  • Assist with the delivery of internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement activities, and outreach initiatives.
  • Draft and distribute media releases, coordinate media opportunities, and support media inquiries as directed.
  • Coordinate and maintain FNCIAS' digital presence, including updating website content, maintaining the social media content calendar, scheduling social media content, and monitoring online engagement.
  • Provide communications templates, resources, and guidance to support consistent messaging and high-quality internal and external communications.
  • Monitor marketing and communications analytics, maintain performance dashboards, analyze campaign results and industry trends, and prepare reports to support continuous improvement.
  • Design and coordinate the production of marketing materials and visual content for print, digital, and social media platforms using established FNCIAS templates and brand standards.
  • Research, write, edit, and proofread communications materials, including letters, speeches, presentations, FAQs, one-pagers, templates, and other corporate resources.
  • Coordinate assigned marketing and communications projects by managing timelines, priorities, resources, and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate logistics and promotional activities for FNCIAS events, conferences, meetings, and engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain and organize FNCIAS' library of marketing assets, including photos, videos, templates, and promotional materials.
  • Coordinate the ordering and inventory of promotional items, branded merchandise, business cards, and printed materials, ensuring appropriate brand standards are followed.
  • Coordinate the production and distribution of quarterly newsletters and email communications using established FNCIAS templates, ensuring contact lists are regularly updated.
  • Build and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with colleagues, Member Nations, partners, and service providers.
  • Maintain organized marketing and communications files, templates, and documentation to support operational continuity and knowledge transfer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing and Communications Specialist, or VP Business Development & Corporate Services to support the overall marketing and communications goals of FNCIAS.


Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, preferably in an Indigenous or community-focused organization.
  • Experience using digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management and design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), content management systems (WordPress), and analytics software (GA4).


Successful candidates in this position may come from a variety of academic and/or experiential backgrounds, however demonstrating a passion for improving housing and infrastructure outcomes on reserve lands is mandatory.


Desirable Experience and Qualities

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and communications principles, with demonstrated ability to execute marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with media, stakeholders, and Nation members.
  • Deep respect for and understanding of First Nations culture, traditions, and values, and the ability to integrate them into communications strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of integrity and personal accountability.
