Job Description
Collegiate Assistant Professor - Poultry Science Education and Student Success
The Virginia Tech School of Animal Sciences seeks an exceptionally qualified and highly motivated educator with expertise in poultry science and a passion for preparing the next generation of leaders for the poultry and allied animal industries. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative faculty committed to excellence in teaching, student mentoring, experiential learning, and industry engagement. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track Collegiate faculty appointment. The successful applicant will contribute to the instructional, advising, and student development missions of the School through innovative teaching, undergraduate advising, and professional preparation of students pursuing careers in poultry and animal agriculture.
Primary responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses in poultry science, animal sciences, and professional development; advising and mentoring undergraduate students within the School of Animal Sciences; expanding experiential learning opportunities including internships, industry engagement, undergraduate research, student organizations, and applied learning experiences; collaborating with faculty, staff, and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Academic Programs Office to support student recruitment, retention, and success; contributing to scholarly and educational initiatives within the School, College, and University; and maintaining strong connections with the poultry and allied industries to ensure educational programs remain relevant, contemporary, and responsive to workforce needs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a student-centered learning environment that promotes academic excellence, leadership development, communication skills, and career readiness.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Animal Sciences, Poultry Science, or a closely related discipline by the appointment start date; Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentoring; excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with: demonstrated understanding of the poultry industry and contemporary poultry production systems; Experience teaching undergraduate poultry science or animal science courses; Demonstrated success in undergraduate advising, mentoring, and student development; Experience developing experiential learning or industry engagement opportunities; and industry experience or strong professional connections within the poultry sector.
