Harvard Resource Solutions is seeking a part time Payroll/HR Specialist for our client in Royal Oak on a temporary to permanent basis.

Summary
Our client, a growing organization based in Royal Oak, Michigan, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll/HR Specialist to join their team on a part-time, remote basis. This role will be responsible for managing the full-cycle payroll process for approximately 300 employees across 15 locations on a bi-weekly payroll schedule. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll processing experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Duties of the Payroll /HR Specialist - (Part time)
  • Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for approximately 300 employees across 15 locations.
  • Responding to employee questions and inquiries related to Human Resources and payroll.
  • Communicating with the office managers at the various locations.
  • Review payroll data, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and payroll-related issues.
  • Coordinate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, wage adjustments, and benefit deductions.
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll audits as needed.
  • Ensure payroll taxes and related filings are processed accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting teams to maintain accurate employee and payroll records.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to payroll processes and procedures.

Requirements of the Payroll /HR Specialist (Part time)
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-location environment.
  • Human Resource, onboarding and compliance experience
  • Experience processing payroll for a workforce of 200+ employees preferred.
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Paycor and/or QuickBooks is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
  • CPP certification is a plus but not required.
