At E2, we value safety, innovation and collaboration, and we are dedicated to excellence.

E2 is looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage core accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support month-end/year-end close processes. This role will also serve as a key backup to our Payroll Manager, so strong payroll accounting knowledge is essential.

  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Own assigned balance sheet accounts, including monthly reconciliations, roll-forwards, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Calculate and record accrual entries (expenses, revenue, payroll liabilities).
  • Prepare variance analysis and explain key drivers behind expense, revenue, payroll, and balance sheet movements.
  • Support intercompany accounting by recording transactions, reconciling balances, and resolving differences between entities.
  • Assist with cash and bank reconciliations to ensure cash activity is accurately recorded and unreconciled items are cleared timely.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including audit preparation and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and standardize close procedures.
  • Partner with FP&A and operations to provide accounting insight into budget versus actual results, cost trends, and unusual activity.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Own payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll registers to the GL each pay cycle.
  • Record and reconcile payroll-related accruals (wages, PTO/vacation liability, bonuses, benefits, 401(k) matching).
  • Serve as backup to the Payroll Manager, capable of executing scheduled payroll runs (weekly, bi-weekly) — calculating wages, bonuses, overtime, retroactive payments, and salary adjustments — and processing termination checks during PTO or absences (union payroll experience a plus).
  • Maintain working knowledge of payroll compliance and tax matters (federal, state, and local wage law; quarterly and year-end filings/amendments; W-2Cs; new state employer setup for withholding and SUI) to review, troubleshoot, and audit payroll data for accuracy.
  • Act as a secondary point of contact for staff on paycheck discrepancies and direct deposit issues when covering for the Payroll Manager.
  • Partner with HR/Payroll to ensure compensation changes, new hires, and terminations are reflected accurately.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accrual accounting.
  • Experience with intercompany accounting and multi-entity environments a plus.
  • Solid payroll accounting experience required; hands-on payroll processing experience a strong plus (given backup responsibilities).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP) and high proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Gusto, Paylocity).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
  • CPA or progress toward CPA a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, process-improvement mindset, and exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP offers an excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off.
