Medical Assistant - Front & Back Office – Cardiology Practice

Busy private Cardiology practice in Southeast Houston is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant/Office Coordinator with experience in both front office and back office medical practice operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations, patient scheduling, and clinical medical assistant duties. Cardiology experience is preferred but candidates with experience in other medical specialties will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Insurance Verification and Authorizations

  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for diagnostic and cardiovascular testing procedures.
  • Work with Medicare, Medicaid, and major commercial insurance carriers.
  • Communicate with insurance companies by phone and through online portals regarding coverage and authorization requirements.
  • Assist with billing-related questions and insurance issues.

Front Office Responsibilities

  • Check patients in and out.
  • Schedule appointments and diagnostic testing.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients with questions.
  • Collect and document insurance information and patient demographics.
  • Assist patients with questions regarding insurance coverage, copays, and balances.

Back Office Responsibilities

  • Room patients and prepare them for physician evaluation.
  • Obtain and document vital signs.
  • Perform and document EKGs.
  • Process medication refill requests.
