Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

This position is based in the Northeast region of the US, servicing dealers in a combined sales region including New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine.

The Regional Manager is responsible for developing and managing long-term relationships with Triumph dealers and key stakeholders. This position is pivotal in developing and supporting dealers to help Triumph to optimize their performance through primary activity in retail and wholesale sales of motorcycles, authentic apparel and accessories, marketing and dealer development activities. Which in turn leads to increasing the lifetime value each customer brings, enhancing the profit per motorcycle, while delivering a premium retail and brand experience.

Reporting to the East US Sales Manager and working as a key member of the sales team, you will be responsible for:

  • Work with dealer partners to plan weekly travel schedule
  • Strategic communication and documentation
  • Monitoring and reporting dealer compliance
  • Specific program approval with region dealers
  • Develop current and future dealer development plans
  • Monitor and report dealer representation with models, apparel and accessory merchandising, reporting and stock turn
  • Communicate and train dealer staff using best practices and proven sales procedures
  • Direct and advise on local marketing and event calendar while focusing on a premium customer experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to support a daily mindset of Professional OEM Sales Management with the primary focus on three key areas Retail, Wholesale and Parts, Accessories and Clothing
  • Work in collaboration with region dealers and East US Sales Manager to properly forecast Motorcycle and Parts, Accessories and Clothing retail and wholesale on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Work in collaboration with region dealers and the East US Sales Manager to develop and maintain a profitable, passionate and premium dealer network with exciting customer experience
  • Work in collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and monitor appropriate business plans including providing advice on best practice, improving CSI scores, optimizing dealer marketing plans and activities to attract, win and retain customers
  • Work in collaboration with key stakeholders to enhance the brand proposition and principles including advising on industry best practices from other dealers and seeking support from subsidiary experts
  • Manage/support dealers with minimum product representation, forward orders and stock turns on motorcycles, clothing and accessories
  • Identify gaps in dealer staff knowledge including requisite training and knowledge of all Triumph products, features and benefits
  • Facilitate attendance of sales and product training both formal and online
  • Ensure dealers are appropriately stocked with full range of models including apparel/clothing/accessories required to achieve minimum operating standards and assist in balancing inventory through the transfer of models between dealers
  • Manage the stock and supply of Triumph motorcycles and products to include annual retail and wholesale forecasts for each region dealer, as well as monitoring retail and wholesale performance to meet region/dealer/market needs
  • Monitor individual dealer and region sales/performance to include visit reports, sales figures, market share, dealer stock levels, competitor sales and marketing activities and dealer CSI reports to track progress
  • Develop, mentor and manage a minimum of one passionate Triumph Champion per dealer to maximize both the dealer and Triumphs position within the market as well as the dealership ensuring a premium customer experience
  • Establish and maintain facility “Brand Standards” in each dealership within the region to confirm Triumph as the Premium British Motorcycle Lifestyle Brand

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge:
    • Direct motorcycle/powersports market sales history along with a strong understanding of market conditions preferred
  • Skills:
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license with motorcycle endorsements
    • Strong communication (verbal and written) as well as documentation skills
    • Possess strong Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills
  • Abilities:
    • The successful candidate must live in, or be willing to relocate within the assigned region
    • Ability to travel extensively including overnight stays required to and from dealerships (Travel can include autos/planes/motorcycles); must be available for weekend dealer visits and events

    • RM’s work closely with all other departments in the business

    • Fosters positive relationships with dealer partners

AUTHORITY

  • This position does not have authority to hire/fire
  • Ability to act independently staying within the guidelines of the Sales Manager, National Sales Manager and GM direction
  • Limited spending authority per budget and DOA guidelines

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Five or more years direct field/retail experience (powersports/automotive preferred)

  • One week training at Triumph office in Atlanta
  • Up to one month field training including travel with another RM, supervised dealer visits

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

  • Majority office work sitting at a desk and travel (via car, plane, etc.)
  • Occasionally required to move motorcycles
  • Occasionally required to move boxes, carrying or with the assistance of a pallet jack for heavier items
  • Occasional outdoor duties at events
