Job Description: Lifescape Colorado is seeking a seasoned Landscape Designer with a passion for high-end residential work and a proven ability to design, sell, and deliver complex outdoor projects. This role is ideal for a confident designer who thrives in a client-facing environment and understands luxury expectations. The Landscape Designer owns projects from initial client consultation through final design and handoff to construction, blending creative vision with technical expertise and strong consultative sales skills. This position requires an individual who is a well skilled in landscape design/architecture, sales, estimation,
client relations and landscape project construction oversight.
Responsibilities:
Sales:
• Responsible to meet and maintain or exceed individually determined annual revenue and gross margin sales goal
• Responsible to manage own book of business of leads provided by company and create and cultivate new business development opportunities by networking
• Responsible for client satisfaction, interaction, meetings from initial consultation through construction, and communicate and sell the services we provide: design, construction, and property care
• Communicate with client in a timely and respectful manner and represent Lifescape professionally at all times
• Responsible for subsequent meetings with clients to present designs and proposals in a timely, accurate, and professional manner to create the best opportunity to sell the project.
• Manage sales pipeline, CRM to ensure accurate pipeline and client data base is available when needed
• Follow Lifescape's Sales Process and Standard Operating Procedures; selling conceptual designs, retainers and construction contracts.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication and sales skills.
• Assist in transitioning clients from construction to property care maintenance clients
Design:
• Design and prepare landscape plans, developing them from conceptual design to final design, incorporating all components of a full landscape plan including but not limited to: planting, paving, grading, irrigation, lighting, demolition and selection of accompanying landscape elements such as hardscape materials, fencing, pools, furnishings, and artwork.
• Provide construction details as needed.
• Assist in developing and training a Design Associate to assist you in design project deliverables; ie site inventory, estimation, planting design, AutoCAD, presentation materials.
• Make material selections with client, manage client expectations.
• Review all final presentation design work prior to presentation to client.
• Responsible for project permitting as applicable.
• Create job pack with all project material and contracts for Operations team to be able to execute construction of project
Estimation:
• Responsible for estimating projects that you design, with accurate take offs and production rates
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures, production rates for Estimating
• Meet with subcontractors at projects both at time of estimation and prior to and/or during construction of the project to obtain quotes for proposals and assist with in-field layout and material verification and clarify any questions
• Review all prepared proposals for feedback and accuracy prior to client review • Have a good base knowledge in landscape and hardscape construction methods, industry and Lifescape standards
Management (if applicable):
• Work with a Design Assistant on tasks needing completed to stay on schedule
• Assist in training a Design Assistant
• Manage and process change orders during construction
• Assist project manager and/or foreman with project layout at start of project
• Inspect projects as they progress in the field to ensure project communication, compliance, quality of workmanship, material accuracy, and client satisfaction
• Approve client invoicing at all project stages per the schedule listed on the Construction Contract and assist in collections
Additional Duties:
• Confer with clients, builders, architects, engineers, project managers on projects as required throughout the construction process
• Responsible for submission of designs to any approving bodies (HOA's, DRC's)
• Responsible for engaging the use of engineers or subject matter experts on all projects as necessary for best project outcome and to protect the company from unnecessary liability
• Maintain accurate records throughout design and construction phase of project and file them systematically
• Maintain record of designer/client correspondence
• Participate in business development events with builders, architects, and other design trades
• Research and implement new design trends and technology into new projects throughout the year
• Continue education (at a minimum) in the form of trade show seminars, vendor showroom visits, and sharing product knowledge throughout the team.
Training and Certifications:
• Bachelor of Arts degree in Landscape Design/Architecture
• Proficient in AutoCAD software, Microsoft Office Suite
• Landscape Architect License (a plus)
• LEED certification (a plus)
Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of Sales and Design experience preferred or demonstrates outstanding design and sales skills
• Demonstrates leadership, teamwork and strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Proven landscape design, estimation, construction and horticulture knowledge
• Able to consistently meet annual sales goal
• Professional graphic presentation and rendering skills
