About Us:

Harness IP is an elite intellectual property boutique law firm ranked in the top ten patent law firms in the U.S. The work we do for our clients is cutting-edge and essential to bringing inventions to market and protecting valuable intellectual property.

Summary:
This position is responsible for compiling, managing, and executing IP attorney team billing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily client billing in a fast-paced setting. This entails running draft invoices, dispersing to attorneys and IP Assistants, researching questions, processing the edits received and finalizing invoices.
  • E-billing invoices as needed and following up to ensure a successful submission.
  • Track trust balances and apply to invoices.
  • Track draft invoices ensuring all are returned from the attorney/admins in a timely manner.
  • Prepare invoice summaries and reports that align with invoices. (Microsoft Excel skills are a must, Microsoft Access skills are a plus).
  • Reconcile anticipated cost items to ensure proper posting to various GL accounts.
  • Monitor client WIP, which includes reviewing and verifying the accuracy of billing and supporting documentation, as required, and ensuring strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform additional accounting functions, assist with other billing tasks, as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned depending on workload.

Qualifications:

  • High-level attention to detail, superior analytical skills, ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and ability to communicate concisely.
  • Strong “sense of urgency” and client-service focus.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with high-energy and minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and an ability to efficiently learn firm accounting and legal technology applications.
  • Proficiency in MS Access preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience handling billing for IP attorneys or related billing experience required.
