Medical Video Remote Interpreter

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Employment Type: Contract with potential for extension or permanent hire

Position Overview

Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced Medical Video Remote Interpreter to facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equitable access to care by providing real-time interpretation services in the patient's preferred language across a variety of clinical and non-clinical healthcare settings.

The ideal candidate possesses strong medical interpretation experience, a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and high-quality communication standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time video remote interpretation between patients, family members, and healthcare professionals.
  • Accurately interpret complex medical terminology, including anatomy, diagnoses, procedures, treatment plans, and medications.
  • Facilitate effective communication in both clinical and administrative healthcare environments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
  • Assist with the translation of written healthcare-related documents as needed.
  • Serve as a cultural and linguistic resource to support patient-centered care and improved health outcomes.
  • Ensure interpretation services are delivered accurately, professionally, and in accordance with industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a medical interpreter competency assessment administered by the health system during the interview process.
  • Completion of a recognized 40-hour Medical Interpreter Training Program (e.g., Bridging the Gap or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional medical interpretation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare workflows.
  • Excellent verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, neutrality, and confidentiality in all interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience providing Video Remote Interpretation (VRI) services.
  • Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) or Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI) credential.
  • Experience working in hospital, clinic, or healthcare system environments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
