Position Description
COMPANY
Precision is a forward-thinking firm specializing in preconstruction consulting, construction management, and general construction services. We serve a wide range of clients - from aerospace innovators to private equity firms, real estate developers, architects, engineers, and government agencies. Whether our clients need help with projects straight out of science fiction (i.e. Hyperloop technology) or simply want to mitigate risk in their commercial real estate portfolios, we empower these groups to build better projects and advance the construction industry.
OPPORTUNITY
Precision Construction Services (PCS) oversees both public and private projects across the Western United States and is preparing to further scale within this region. To support this diverse and growing project portfolio, PCS is looking for a Project Engineer (PE) to coordinate efforts in partnership with our Project Management Team. Precision's lean size allows PEs to have exposure to a variety of projects, from the pre-construction phase to building completion, rapidly expanding their knowledge in a multitude of areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Solicit subcontractor bids
  • Attend and document all project meetings
  • Write and distribute RFI's
  • Maintain RFI log
  • Onboard new subcontractors and vendors to Vista (construction project management software) and manage documentation
  • Verify insurance for subcontractors (i.e. general liability, workers' compensation, auto, etc.)
  • Verify subcontractors have provided the required documentation with their invoices, upload these to Vista and Accounts Payable, and track payments to each subcontractor
  • Collect and submit certified payroll reports for all public projects
  • Prepare and maintain change event logs in Vista
  • Review, analyze and transmit submittals
  • Review and assemble change order submittals and quantity surveys
  • Set up and maintain project filing system
  • Compile contract close out documents (O&M manuals, as-builts, etc.)
  • Monthly billings and subcontractor compliance
  • Attend and document project meetings (i.e. agendas, meeting minutes, follow up to comments, resent back out to all parties, etc.)
  • Update and maintain all sets of drawings, specifications and logs
  • Assist with updating and maintaining CPM schedule
  • Evaluate and understand basic construction means and methods
  • Assist in maintaining a site-specific safety plan and pre-task planning process, including audits, meeting, training, etc.
  • Cost code and/or verify correct codes on time sheets
  • Report quantities in place and maintain labor cost report
  • Review and assemble change order submittals and quantity surveys
  • Review and understand the change order
  • Solicit feedback from applicable subcontractors
  • Prepare monthly reports as requested by Project Manager or EH&S Manager
  • Document punch list work, deadlines and signoff
  • Assist the Project Manager as directed in the maintenance of project schedule of values and invoice spreadsheets

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS OR MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 0-3 years of construction-related experience
  • Construction related internship experience preferred
  • Field experience a plus (i.e. carpenter, laborer, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of construction cost accounting
  • Basic estimating and scheduling skills
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
  • Driving is a requirement of this job
