Job description

Summary
The Assistant Field Engineer is to assist our Commissioning and Functional Engineer("COF Engineer") to provide on-site technical support to our end customer/client, and conduct testing for the railcars using PTU and other tools to make sure the railcars function and perform safely and properly. The person for this job will frequently access the following areas including but not limited to the pits under train tracks, interior of car, and exterior roof, to conduct testing and troubleshooting activities and perform the necessary repair work under supervision. CRRC provides professional training, including the most recent and relevant techniques for completing job and project-related tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
โ€ข Assisting COF Engineer to perform field service at the end customer's designated locations.
โ€ข Performing troubleshooting with Portable Test Unit ("PTU") and Tools based on the technical documents.
โ€ข Working alongside COF Engineer to repair/replacement of parts, as warranted, based on testing and/or troubleshooting results.
โ€ข Using laptops with subsystem software to troubleshoot various railcar systems - using technology in an optimal fashion to test and troubleshoot.
โ€ข Reviewing various commissioning documents released by the Technical Department and completing testing and commissioning tasks followed by test procedures and work instructions under COF Engineer's and/or Manager's supervision and guidance.
โ€ข Engaging in communication with internal departments and transit agency personnel, as warranted in order to appropriately complete daily assignments.
โ€ข Tracking and reporting discovered issues and the progress of the resolution to COF Engineer and/or Manager.
โ€ข Coordinating and supporting the end customer/client on in-process inspections and final functional inspections before delivery.
โ€ข Understanding and following company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures.
โ€ข Travelling among all the CTA terminals to perform the work, as necessary and assigned.
โ€ข Able to work irregular hours if needed.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Required
  • Minimum of 2-year college/trade school degree in relevant discipline/study or equivalent work experiences in a relevant field, such as electrical, automation, or computer science.
  • Hands-on experience with the use of testing and measuring instruments; such as reading different meters, sensors, oscilloscopes, and etc.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, and etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong self-drive and learning capability.

Preferred
  • 4-year college in mechanical/electrical engineer, or a related field.
  • Understanding and experience working with mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Relevant work experience in railroad and/or transportation industry.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin

Salary Range: $58,656 - $75,000/annually
