Job description

Job Title: Electrical Data Editor Location: Seattle, WA (hybrid – 1 day onsite per week) Type: Contract Compensation: $28.93 per hour on W2 Responsibilities

  • Perform complex, detailed computer-aided drafting and preparation of maps, plans, revisions, schematics and drawings of the electrical features of varied facilities such as substations, distribution and transmission systems, and street lighting.
  • Locate and revise all elementary, connection and arrangement drawings to document changes.
  • Exercise sound judgment to analyze, interpret and evaluate engineering data to resolve electrical engineering problems; read, analyze and draft technical drawings.
  • Assist, support, and respond to inquiries and problems from engineers, crews, internal and external customers.
  • Complete map work orders, conversion work orders and map corrections.
  • Reproduce quarter section maps, feeder maps or other documents needed for appropriate project work.
  • Prepare, maintain, and revise records, maps, programs, and schedules.
  • Answer questions from departmental personnel concerning asset location, work orders, distribution maps and consultation documents.
  • Perform other related duties of comparable level/type as assigned.
  • Perform field assessments of overhead distribution structures and related equipment.
  • Update various GIS databases as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or two years of college-level instruction in electrical engineering.
  • Experience utilizing GIS software in coursework (AutoCAD, ESRI, QGIS, etc.).
  • Two years’ experience in Electrical Data Editing, GIS or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform this work.
  • Current Washington State driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and work management skills.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or professional certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Two or more years of GIS related work within a utility using ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD Map.
  • One or more years of electrical drafting and knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of WAMS (Work Order Management System), ArcFM, Asset Suite, MS Office Suite.
