Electrical Data Editor
Location: Seattle, WA
Employment Type: Contract
Hourly Rate: $40-$50 an hour on w2
Position Overview
Strategic Business Solutions is seeking an Electrical Data Editor to support a large municipal utility's GIS Services organization. This role is responsible for maintaining and updating electrical system connectivity data that supports critical utility applications including outage management, grid analytics, customer systems, and asset management platforms.
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of GIS, utility mapping, electrical drafting, and electrical distribution system knowledge, with the ability to maintain highly accurate electrical network records and engineering documentation.
Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed GIS editing, drafting, and mapping of electrical distribution, transmission, substation, and street lighting assets.
  • Update and maintain electrical connectivity models and GIS databases.
  • Review and revise electrical drawings, schematics, maps, and engineering records.
  • Analyze engineering and utility data to resolve mapping discrepancies and support operational requirements.
  • Complete map corrections, work orders, conversion activities, and data updates.
  • Research and respond to requests from engineers, field crews, and utility personnel regarding asset locations and system information.
  • Conduct field verification of electrical distribution structures and related equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate utility records, maps, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Support ongoing GIS and utility asset management initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, GIS, or related technical discipline; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of GIS, electrical drafting, utility mapping, or electrical data editing experience.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, ArcFM, AutoCAD, ESRI products, or similar GIS technologies.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution, transmission, substations, or utility infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Utility industry experience.
  • GIS certification or degree concentration in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Experience with ArcFM, WAMS, Asset Suite, or similar utility asset management systems.
  • Experience supporting electric utility engineering, operations, or asset management functions.
