The eDiscovery Project Manager plays a key role in ensuring high-quality service to clients and supporting our attorneys and paralegals. This includes performing high-quality billable work, demonstrating expertise in collecting and organizing discovery, using eDiscovery tools, managing data, and overseeing advanced analytics projects.

Individuals in this role are generally expected to record 1,500 or more recorded billable hours during the performance year, which begins October 1 and ends September 30.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise and support attorneys and paralegals across all phases of discovery, including preservation, collection, review, production, archiving, and forensic requests, serving as a subject-matter expert in the firm’s eDiscovery tools and practices.
  • Coordinate and execute eDiscovery technical operations, including processing electronically stored information (ESI), database and image loading, production subset creation, and ongoing database maintenance, ensuring compliance with client, court, and regulatory requirements.
  • Configure eDiscovery workspaces, manage user access, and provide training and support on litigation applications and databases, particularly Relativity. Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve application or database issues as needed.

  • Support and manage Relativity advanced analytics projects. Monitor workspace and vendor utilization to prevent waste, control costs, and ensure proper disposition of data.

  • Collaborate with service providers and internal teams to ensure adherence to client- and industry-specific data collection, processing, production, and disposition requirements.
  • Communicate project updates to leadership, including the National Director of eDiscovery, Manager of Document Reviews, eDiscovery Project Managers, and case teams.
  • Research emerging eDiscovery technologies, best practices, and industry trends, and pursue certifications and training to maintain expertise and ensure the firm stays current with evolving technology.

Key Skills

  • Strong attention to detail with proven ability to maintain accurate project documentation, ensure quality control, and provide timely status updates.
  • Excellent time and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • In-depth experience with processing and hosting platforms, including Everlaw, Trial Director, BrainSpace, MS Access, MS Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts and tools such as UltraEdit, EnCase, FTK, and Cellebrite reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly translate technical processes for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and problem-solving ability, including escalation of issues and adaptability to unique projects and tight timelines.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Flexible and professional, with availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of project management experience within an Am Law litigation law firm and/or eDiscovery vendor environment, providing litigation support and project management services to attorneys and law firm clients.
  • Required experience with Relativity; preferred certifications include Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) and Relativity Analytics Specialist.
  • Strong knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and core eDiscovery concepts and technologies, including data security and alternative data sources such as Microsoft 365, Slack, and social media.
