JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The College of Agriculture is seeking applicants for a part-time research assistant opening. We are recruiting research assistants for the Lowry Weed Ecology Lab to assist with experiments in both the field and greenhouse.

Job duties to include:

  • collection and processing of plant and soil samples
  • data collection
  • data entry
  • set up and maintenance of experiments

Research projects will address key questions within weed ecology, such as:

1) how do management practices influence weed seed mortality in the soil

2) how do diverse crop communities influence weed communities and weed suppression and

3) how can we enhance the efficacy of ecologically based weed management practices?

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

  • Applicant must be able to work weekdays the entire summer
  • A driver's license is required (but personal vehicle NOT required)
  • Must be willing to work in a variety of environments, including outdoors
  • Must be organized, able to work independently as well as within a group, demonstrate attention to details, and ability to follow instructions

Schedule:

  • 20 hours/week

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $16.00/hour

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
