Job description

Seeking individual to focus on business development, proposal preparation and estimating for Heavy Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Contractor. This role requires leveraging industry connections and relationships to identify and procure private sector work. Must be capable of preparing budget estimates, providing clients with support through preconstruction, overseeing qualification packages and technical writing, and working with other estimators to bring a project to fruition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops project pursuit strategy with Area Operational leadership supporting corporate strategy.
  • Attends and participates in industry outreach, networking, and informational events to gain local contacts.
  • Maintains connection with key owners and agencies.
  • Oversees administrative effort to help achieve shortlist selection and create responsive SOQ submittals.
  • Organizes and maintains pursuit list and regularly communicates to team and upper management.
  • Tracks the pursuit process to ensure submittal is compliant and delivered by deadline.
  • Prepares and negotiates designer agreements, subcontractor agreements, and Joint Venture (JV) agreements, compliant with company policies.
  • Follows corporate guidelines and procedures for estimate pursuits.
  • Works with estimating team to prepare pricing for pursuits. Prepares budget estimates that are reviewed by Chief Estimator and works with estimating team on final pricing.
  • Quantifies risks and opportunities, including as part of a review of contract plans and specifications, and other client requirements.
  • Assist in the development and mentorship of junior to mid-level team members.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field
  • 10+ years of experience in Construction.
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Development.
  • Experience in estimating projects independently preferred.
  • Preferred areas of construction experience: Bridges, Roadwork, Site Development, Deep Foundations, SOE, Wastewater, Trackwork, Geothermal, Renewable Energy Electrical Power and Communications, Mechanical
  • Success oriented driven with strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contract terms.
  • Able to travel throughout New England.

Compensation Range: $160,000 - $200,000
