Job description

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the position supervises the daily accounting activities and prepares established financial and regulatory reports for a consolidated group of companies. The individual will run the Finance Department on a day-to-day basis and supervise the A/P, A/R, Billing and Payroll functions through the Accounting Manager as a direct report. The Controller also works directly with the companies' auditors for the completion of its annual audited financial statements.
Hiring Requirements:
  • Master's degree in accounting/business and 10 years' experience; or bachelor's degree and 15 years' experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry in public or private accounting with all aspects of consolidating financial reporting and job cost accounting required.
  • Construction accounting experience
  • Proficiency in computerized ERP accounting systems and office productivity applications required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is desirable.
  • Specific experience in Job Cost and/or Fixed Asset accounting within the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Federal and State sales and payroll tax requirements is essential.
  • Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Superior organization skills, ability to make independent decisions and multi-task.
  • Understanding of construction cost burdening.
  • Knowledge of Prevailing Wage laws and payroll (i.e.- Davis Bacon Law)
