The primary responsibility of the Assistant Controller is to manage the accounting functions at the Newton plant under the supervision of the Plant Controller and Director of Finance. The role will be responsible for leading the monthly close process and general accounting functions. The role will also partner closely with the Plant Controller during the annual budget and monthly forecast processes, and support monthly cycle counts and physical inventories as needed. Additionally, this role will provide value added cost analysis and financial insights for the plant as well as make recommendations to drive cost reductions and process improvements.
Salary Range: 105K-110K
You Will Have an Opportunity To:
-Perform month-end closing activities for the Newton plant. This includes preparation of journal entries, management reports and account reconciliations.
-Support the Plant Controller and Director of Finance in the following areas:
  • Monthly cycle counting and physical inventory processes
  • Weekly sales/bookings reports
  • Power BI and SAP enhancement projects
  • Monthly forecast and annual budget processes
  • Plant cost center spend reports as compared to forecast and budget
  • Review and analysis related to production order activity, spending and absorption variances, inventory valuation accuracy and any other plant related financials
  • Learn process of developing standard rates for cost centers and working with engineering on maintenance of plant BOM's and routers

-Perform monthly, quarterly and annual income statement and balance sheet analytics, assist operations team on development of business plans to justify capital projects, perform ad hoc analysis and support special projects as needed.
-Assist with requirements of both internal and external auditors during quarterly and annual audits. Maintain compliance with US GAAP and all company accounting policies, as well as procedural documentation for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience required.
  • Manufacturing or plant accounting experience required
  • SAP Experience preferred
  • Proficient in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ability to accurately apply the principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Teams
  • Possess the highest level of integrity and ethics
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Must possess a sense of urgency, a strong work ethic and results driven mindset
  • Ability to interact with all levels of plant associates and work in a team-oriented environment with a service attitude

  • Good planning and organization skills combined with strong written and oral communication skills
