Full-time

Re-posted 15 days ago

Job description

The Grenzy Recruiting Group is conducting a search for an Assistant Controller on behalf of a well-established private golf and country club community. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to grow into a higher-level leadership role within a stable organization that values long-term employees, collaboration, and work-life balance.

Unlike many traditional club environments, this community offers a friendly, down-to-earth culture with approachable leadership, strong employee tenure, and flexibility when life happens. The organization is seeking someone who wants to take ownership of their work, contribute as a business partner, and continue developing professionally.

The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations for the community and club operations. This individual will play a key role in financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, audit support, and supervision of accounting processes.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on accounting work and mentoring or overseeing accounting staff, while building toward future advancement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in leading the monthly financial close and reporting process
  • Prepare financial statements, supplemental schedules, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and related accounting entries
  • Reconcile payroll and benefit-related accounting activity
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Review journal entries, AP/AR batches, and general ledger activity completed by staff
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Partner with external auditors during annual audits and tax preparation
  • Assist with internal controls and financial process improvements
  • Review member billing statements and related reporting
  • Participate in inventory oversight and variance analysis
  • Support technology and accounting system improvements
  • Provide leadership support in the absence of the Controller or General Manager
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of accounting experience required
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in HOA, hospitality, club, property management, or public accounting environments is a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and general ledger accounting
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Clear growth potential into higher-level accounting leadership
  • Stable organization with long-tenured employees
  • Friendly, team-focused culture; professional but not overly corporate or stuffy
  • Exposure to all aspects of accounting and financial operations
  • Opportunity to work closely with leadership and gain broad operational experience
  • Flexible, supportive work environment

If you are looking for an opportunity where you can grow your career, gain broad accounting exposure, and join a stable organization with a positive culture, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
