The Assistant Coach also serves as the Running Backs Coach for the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) NCAA Division II Football Program in accordance with the guidelines established by the department, FVSU, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), and the NCAA. This is a Part time, 12-month position that reports to the Head Football Coach. MAJOR DUTIESAbide and comply with all applicable NCAA, SIAC, and FVSU policies, rules and regulationsAttend practices and gamesResponsible for assisting the Offensive Coordinator with the FVSU Offensive packageResponsible for assisting the Special Teams Coordinator with the FVSU Special Teams packageHelp develop practice and game plans for the football program.Provide individual and small group instructionAnalyze game/practice videos Assist in the overall vision of the football strength and conditioning programCoordinate, identify, evaluate, and actively recruit prospective students including scheduling on-campus visitsAttend meetings with the coaching staff and individual student-athletesStrive to build and strengthen cross-campus relationshipsAssist Athletics Department with fundraising endeavors Perform summer duties and special projects as assigned by the Head Football Coach or Director of AthleticsOther duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITIONAbility to work collaboratively with departmental and university personnel and administrationDemonstrated ability to participate in public relations activities, to include television and radio interviews, and press conferences, as appropriateDemonstrated ability to handle high levels of stress and anxiety WORK ENVIRONMENTTravel required during playing season and recruitment seasonEvenings, weekends during playing season and recruitment seasonWorking outdoors PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to stand or walk for an extended period of timeLift or carry up to 25 poundsMust be able to bend, squat, kneel, reach overhead, lift overheadMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree Three (2) years coaching experience Experience as a college football player Valid Driver's LicenseDemonstrated knowledge of NCAA and SIAC rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with departmental and university personnel and administrationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degreeExperience coaching at the collegiate levelExperience recruiting student athletes USG Core Values Statement The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning, as well as the System Office.
