Position Summary
CMGA Insurance is seeking an experienced Claims Assistant Manager to support the leadership and daily operations of our Auto Claims Department. This role works closely with the Claims Manager to ensure efficient claim handling, exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, and the continued development of our claims team.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive experience in Texas auto claims, including Property Damage (PD), Bodily Injury (BI), Total Loss, and Subrogation (Subro). This individual will provide technical guidance, mentor adjusters, assist with operational oversight, and help drive departmental performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Claims Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Auto Claims Department.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and technical support to claims adjusters and support staff.
  • Review complex claims involving coverage, liability, damages, reserves, settlement authority, and litigation exposure.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Property Damage (PD), Bodily Injury (BI), Total Loss, and Subrogation claims.
  • Monitor claim quality, cycle times, productivity, compliance, and customer service metrics.
  • Conduct file reviews and quality audits to ensure adherence to company standards and Texas insurance regulations.
  • Assist with workload distribution, claim assignments, and escalation management.
  • Identify training opportunities and support the onboarding and development of claims staff.
  • Collaborate with SIU, underwriting, legal counsel, vendors, and other departments to facilitate timely and accurate claim resolution.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and claim outcomes.
  • Prepare reports and monitor departmental performance indicators.
  • Act on behalf of the Claims Manager when needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years of Texas auto claims experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of leadership experience in a supervisory, team lead, or assistant management role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Property Damage (PD)
    • Bodily Injury (BI)
    • Total Loss
    • Subrogation (Subro)
    • Coverage analysis
    • Liability investigations
    • Claim negotiations
  • Experience handling attorney-represented and complex liability claims.
  • Active Texas All-Lines Adjuster License preferred or required.
  • Strong knowledge of Texas insurance regulations and claims best practices.
  • Experience with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
