Description For more information and to apply, please visit: Assistant City Manager - Redlands, CA - Peckham & McKenny Under general direction, provides assistance and support to the City Manager and City Council, including analyzing and implementing policies and procedures, assisting in the preparation of the budget and responding to and resolving public inquiries and complaints; oversees intergovernmental relations in the areas of service delivery and legislative issues: oversees the activities and operations of assigned divisions and provides responsible staff assistance to the City Manager, City Council and department heads. Examples of Duties Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide assistance and support to the City Manager and City Council; analyze and implement policies and procedures; assist in the preparation of the budget; respond to and resolve public inquiries and complaints; Plans, directs, coordinates, assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of assigned staff ; Act as City Manager in the City Manager's absence with all the powers and authority as described within the Redlands Municipal Code including hiring and terminating Department Directors; Review and analyze legislation for impact on the City; work with legislators to develop or influence legislation; recommend revisions to proposed legislation; Assist in developing and implementing the budget and long range goals for the City; monitor the assigned budget and approve expenditures as required; Oversee the release of media and public information; contact with various media relations; updates on City or community issues; Coordinate civic innovation activities; Serve as project manager for a variety of special projects; facilitate project activities and resolve problems; develop and submit project reports to the City Manager; Provide responsible staff support to the City Manager, City Attorney, City Council; Maintain communication with other jurisdiction officials to coordinate regional issues and represent the City; serve as liaison with department heads, City Council, City Manager and other external agencies; Represent the City's interests and positions before legislative and rule-making authorities at all levels of government; recommend policies and procedures; Attends City Council Meetings; and Performs related duties as required. Qualifications Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or business administration or a related field.

For degrees obtained outside of the U.S. an official equivalency evaluation is required. Experience: Six years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in a municipal government setting, including supervisory responsibilities and administrative project management experience

Licenses and Certificates: Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license. Special Requirements: Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations; Regularly required to talk or hear. Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
